Has verizon squashed the GPS on this thing like they have with other models? Does it work without subscribing to VZ Navigator?

No, the phone wasn't made with free GPS, and no, it won't work without the subscription.

The phone is GPS capable, but you either pay for a data plan or "pay as you go" for the amount of data transferred (which can be very expensive).

I thought it was a flat $3 a day - they don't mention data transfer charges ????
