Doubt it. I have the Blitz for Verizon, which is sort of this phone, but this phone ups it to a 2 mp camera, threaded text messaging and moto reception (unbeatable.) I'm a little jealous Alltel...if you've no need for a smartphone, this could be a gem...
Mellow do you like your Blitz? I am with Verizon and I was thinking about getting it. I used to have a Blackberry for work but now that I have changed jobs and don't need it I am trying to get a more simpiler phone but love my full keyboard.
I actually like it very much but I bought it knowing its limitations. It has no EVDO (but Navigator still works just fine...) the camera is 1.2 mp so it's just average, and the sound can be distorted at the loudest volumes, but I just turn it down a bit and it's fine. The BEST point is the keyboard because I don't like the enV side-opening qwertys; texting is a breeze, the slider is smooth, reception is great, I never drop calls (the network), the phone is simple, button placement makes sense, and I've dropped it many times with nary a ding or scratch. If you're not expecting the whistles and bells of a BB, and you know what it doesn't do, this phone can be very functional.
I don't use the internet much. I use navigator and I have downloaded music and tones, and it IS slower than other phones, but I don't do it enough to really care how much slower. Without EVDO it's not going to get the speeds you might be used to. You can always get the Hint instead of the Blitz, but that would mean Alltel at least until the merger goes through. That "any device" thing Verizon's been bragging about seems to be taking forever, but they were talking about it once upon a time...
I thought "unlocked" phones only pertained to GSM networks, but I could be wrong. To activate on Verizon, you have to have a Verizon phone with clean ESN. If you were to buy an Alltel phone, I don't see how you could activate it on Verizon unless and until the merger goes through, or unless and until they allow acceptable CDMA devices to be on their "network." Hope that helps.

Well, one of the reviewers here complained about the battery life for the Hint, and for the record, the battery life on my Blitz is incredible - I use it a lot and the battery lasts for days, so maybe I'm not missing the 2 mp camera and the threaded messaging - oh, wait, yeah, I still would like those things. damn
