BlackBerry Storm 9530
Recall?
He also told me that another store in the area had 13 of these delivered and 11 were returned. What is going on here, is Verizon that incompetent? How could they have screwed this up so badly?
Sold out 400,000 phones in 8 hours. The 12/15 date you are referring to was an estimated "ship by" date for phones ordered later.
This phone was hyped up so much that everyone thinks they have to have one. No everyone really should to be honest.
Rumors floating around like you would not believe. Much of it is just rumors. Sales guys in the stores and even my corporate rep are not told as much as they should be.
It's a complex phone. Better phones out there for the "average" phone user.
There is no recall

Okay, let's here your professional connection to RIM or Verizon that allows you this inside information that contradicts what different people have heard (and if you do a web search will find now showing up on the web)? I would love to hear your credentials since you have denied that you are a company shill in other posts.
And you got this info from talking to a rep in a store? We all know that they know everything don't we. 🤣
nothing on crackberry.com as of yet about any recall. We all know what you are trying to accomplish here, we all know you hate the phone.
why are you still here?
He said they have been notified that the recall is currently in the works and to remove any damaged units from display. He told me it was because of screen issues though. I told him I did not see a lot of screen issues on the web and he pulled their display from under the table and it was missing the screen completely.
I did notice that Best Buy did have the screen protectors for the Storm and a charging dock for it.
we will see

Where did you get that info from? RIM has stated there is no new software yet for the Storm.
There are updates or patches being pushed through BB desktop manager already, but they are not major ones
1 update did download to my phone the first time I used the desktop software on 11/26. I suspect it was because the software was loaded before the release date. New ones probably already have it installed.
When you connect, depending on the kind of user you are and how you have your email setup, it looks like you will get something.
I know BES users have an update out
is it better and once you have it does the texting start getting really easy/
thanks for everyones help!!
people who own it answer only thanks
For a more in depth explanation of the reasons why, what this video and fast forward to 10:00 the mark.

Typing and accuracy will be horrible in the beginning, You will be all over the place for a little while. But you will improve a lot as you use it. Within a week you will probably get used to it.
A physical keyboard is still the best for really fast typing. I would also not get it if you were pounding out 100 texts or emails a day.

I personally could type on the Storm faster than my Curve...and I am fastest on my iPhone. I am not a fast typist and the larger buttons on the Storm worked in my favor. If you are a fast typist the Curve would be faster for you since it, and the iPhone, can register over lapping keystrokes and the Storm cannot.

We ordered a curve for another person in our company the day before I ordered the Storm. I didn't like that keyboard design. It was exactly like my Palm Treos. every one is a little different I ...

I can really fly on my iPhone using the two thumb method. That is primarily because the autocorrect software on the iPhone is so outstanding.

The buttons on the Curve are just so small and rounded that I have to type with my thumbnail.

Would be a nice feature to incorporate into the Storm. It will guess the words you are trying to type, but it doesn't go far enough yet
It is now my belief that this device was rushed to market and should be recalled.
Sorry Storm fans.

After my initial liking of the Storm, it turned on me. All the glitches that folks had associated with the .65 software starting showing up with the .75 software, pls the accelerometer starting flipping randomly.

Could be a bad phone. Tried to get a replacement? I have had no hardware related issues that would need a recall done...only software issues
Good grief.

If folks agree with your opinion, you have no issues, but the second you state an unpopular opinion about a carrier or device, then the piling on begins.
Good grief.
A touch screen phone for the masses would be the iphone. There are a lot of people that this phone is not good for, but it's not an "unpopular opinion" by any means.
A recall should never be made for fixable software issues on any phone. The effort should be spent on software updates now which it is.
