My only concern would be if Blackberry\Verizon start shipping out a new version of the phone in the very near future instead of solely relying on software updates. Does anyone know what the chances of that are? Because in this case I would just rather return the phone and wait a couple of months.

Also, does anyone know how long before the Storm gets decent software applications like Google Maps and stocks applications. My friends who have the iPhone have all these really neat applications that track stocks, show traffic, and show videos.

Thanks for...

I just read on bwone.com that the Blackberry Apps Store would be available for the Storm in March of 2009. Not very helpful right now but it's good to know that it is coming.

Yes it does actually. I downloaded Google maps last night and tried it. The catch is that it doesn't access the cell phone towers like Verizon Navigator does to further define your position. At least with me it put me a couple of streets over from where I was.

No new version of this phone coming out in the near future. It is a new phone to begin with.

There are more software updates coming in the near future to fix annoyances and bugs.

crackberry.com is a one-stop-shop for new software as it becomes available

I already installed Google Maps on my Storm. From your browser, go to google.com and click on maps. The app will stall itself.

Blackberry Maps... works the same way doesn't it? VZ Nav is awesome app though, and on free month promo right now anyway. well worth it.
Other apps in app store due 1Q09. There's other stuff on craackberry and verizon's app store.
