3G vs 1XEV
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
I see all these commercials promoting Verizon's 3G but my Storm says 1XEV. All my friends who have AT&T IPhone shows 3G as their network. Is something wrong with my phone or what?
...
1XEV is the Verizon standard for 3G

I figured as much... That 1XEV was the same but I was under the impression that the Storm was faster online then the Pearl. But it seems to be just the oposite.
Any suggestions on how to make the browser go faster?

EvDo is the CDMA 3G equivalent to the GSM-related HSDPA. EvDo does not allow voice and data to be used at the same time. It is only used to boost data speeds. Hence the name Evolutionary Voice - Data Only. If Verizon and Sprint would have used EvDV (Data/Voice), then they could have used both voice and data to be used at the same time.
T-Mobile and AT&T's 3G network as well as anyone other company in the world that uses UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA can support voice and data to be used simultaneously. Meaning you can be on a call, and still surf the internet, as long as you are in a 3G area.

How do you surf the net and make a call at the same time? I suppose it's possible. You could use speaker phone or bluetooth, but really, you can't take a break for a couple of minutes to complete the call?!

I mean you can talk and be able to use the internet at the same time. Like if you have DSL. It allows calls to come through while you are able to surf the web. Dial can't do that.

Stop looking up pr0n and it should run alittle faster 😉

The EV in 1XEV stands for EVDO, Verizon's 3G network.
