Application memory

Is it me, but is anyone else experiencing a problem with the Storm function once the application memory get below 20 or so Mb? I've deleted some of the applications that came with the Storm, and it seems to run better.

Is there a way to use the built in 1gb memory for application memory?

Google it and download- free trial and then I think it's $15 if you like it.
