Voice dialing?
Does the Pre offer speaker independent voice dialing?
To be honest voice control over things like the play list would be very nice but not a must have but voice dialing when using a Bluetooth headset is just to handy.

Well that just sucks. I have to admit that I find that extremely disappointing. My old A900 had great voice dialing, Nokia has great voice dialing, and Apple has just added it.
I wonder just what else will be added in the updates like the Video Support.
I really want to like the Pre but this is honestly disappointing.
I really hope they add voice commands. Being able to play a podcase without looking at my phone while driving would be really cool.

Voice dialing has gone a long way, but I still kind of miss the speaker-dependent type they had ages ago.
It was a massive pain setting them up by recording your voice in each phone entry, but they were pretty accurate for me.

On my A900 it was actually very good.
The lack of this and Video really irk me. It is like Apple knew what features the Pre wouldn't have and made sure the iPhone had them.
I keep hearing that these will be in.
1. an update.
2. an app from the store.
But I have seen NOTHING OFFICAL yet.
My wife loves palm and I love the idea of a Palm with a modern OS but it feels a little half baked right now to me.
I will be really ticked off if these features never show up in an update.

Video should be out in an update eventually. Sometimes the price paid for having the newest phone on the block is a phone that isn't completely up to it's potential yet.
Not to say anything bad about the Pre, but buyers now should expect some quirks, left out features, supply problems, and little aftermarket or third party support for a bit. All those things work themselves out in time, but those people that are annoyed by such things should wait.

Actually I didn't think it was much of a pain at all - took a few minutes to enter the people I call frequently, and I add more as I go. I have an older LG VX7000 and the voice dialing, with speaker-dependent technology, is absolutely, totally, perfectly flawless, even with a fair amount of background noise while I'm speaking a name to be dialed.
