Confused about the rugged part....
I know this phone is going to be a boon for Nextel, Southernlinc and Boost Mobile. But here is the thing.
How in God's name can you call a phone Rugged when it has a ton of Glass real estate? Is the glass shatter proof? I would be scared of having the damn thing on a holster or in my pocket in the chance and if I drop it the glass would spiderweb...

Mil spec 810 is basically a standard for dust and water. It does not mean that the device is bulletproof.
810 includes FAR more than just dust & water intrusion. Google it or go to Wikipedia for a good overview of all that this particular standard includes.
That said, one has to be careful to read exactly WHICH sections of Mil-810F the manufacturer is claiming they meet.
Regarding the question about the glass screen on the i1, of course it is absolutely not going to be bulletproof, and in some impacts it will break or damage the glass.
