Wireless Sync with VZW
I just got my TREO from Verizon, and love it. They are advertising, however, wireless synchronization to Outlook on the desktop. Unfortunately, their support people (after trying for several days to find someone who knew what he was talking about) told me that this isn't compatible with Outlook 2003. This really sucks.

Yes, that sucks, I agree. Fortunately, for now, I am still using Outlook XP.
I couldn't find any details on what firewall settings need to be in place before it will work. Did you find a resource for this info?

Sorry you are having a problem with the syncing of the new phone. What is the exact error message that you are getting when you try to sync, and are you behind a firewall. Also, are you attempting to sync with a work machine or a home machine.

When I try to install the PC monitor (on either a home or work PC, both running Windows XP professional) after going to Setup, selecting "individual monitor" entering my VZW phone number and password, I get an error box that says "Unable to open Outlook Address book."
The work machine is behind a firewall, but the home machine is not. This is a problem during the installation.

From that, it sounds like there is a problem with the software finding Outlook. First thing I would do is make sure that the version of Outlook that you are using (not outlook express) is supported.
