Screen brightness/battery life

Armitech

Is there any way to dim the screen a little lower than the low setting? I too am having battery life problems and thought maybe if I could dim the screen another notch it might help. P.S. I love the phone.

Can't get lower than low. No super low mode offered on this model

You can buy an extra capacity battery which would extend your talk and standby times. That is what I am going to do

Even at a great price for the phone, its seems to be a huge waste of money to have to go get an extended battery to make a phone usable for a typical day. We're finding a new concept here - a "starter battery".

Yes, the screen is beautiful, but you really only need a screen like this for browsing the web. Its too power inefficient for just a normal phone use. If you browse the web for a half hour, your talk time is cut to about 45 minutes. The power hungry features should have been taken into account when the battery capacity was selected during the design phase.

I have no complaints. I use my mobile web maybe 10 min here and there, not for 45 min at a time. Of course the battery is going to get drained especially mobile web 2.0 that is graphically oriented. What do you expect? Audiovox states you get 196 talk time not mobile web time. Yes, the screen is powerful and beautiful and the best looking on the market and I love it. I used my new every 2 and got this for free. In 2 years I will again have something else new and better for free once again. Maybe you should not even use your new every 2 because there will always be bigger and better and you sound like the type that can never find perfection.

You should just return your phone and go back to your V60i that sounds like it will work for yo...

Look who's getting defensive here. I don't care if you never use your NE2. Believe me I won't lose any sleep over your decision. So take a chill and good luck on your search for the perfect phone

Please don't take my criticism of the 9900 personally. Keep it in perspective - its just another in a endless parade of generally overhyped phones. Life is too short to get worked up over something like a phone.

Believe me, I'm not losing a moment of sleep over my NE2 either. But thanks for your good wishes.

Perhaps it doesn't have an audible alert because the LED flashes red when you have missed a call. While my last phone did give an audible alert, I couldn't use the function while at work (phone had to be in silent/vibrate mode), so I got used to checking the screen periodically. If you just have to have an audible alert, check out the 8900, if they still have them in your area stores. The quality of the phone is no where near that of the 9900, but at least it comes complete with an audible alert, and a set of blue side lights, which flash.
