9900 vs. LG4500
sb42Oct 11, 2004, 10:50 PM
Will be activating an account with Verizon at the end of the week. Choice between Audviovox 9900 and LG4500. Anyone know the reliability of these handsets. Reliability and signal strength are most important to me. I live on Long Island but travel throughout the country.

YOU NEED A TRI-MODE PHONE. LG doesnt make any!
9900 has no audible alert if you miss a call and your caller doesnt leave a message.

I just upgraded from a LG VX4400 (tri-mode) to the CDM-9900. Both are good. No significant difference in signal strength. Can't speak to reliability on 9900 since I've only had it a week, but so far it has survived a 4 ft. drop onto pavement (accidentally) without breaking.
If LG4500 isn't tri-mode, I would go with the 9900. Especially if you travel.

Wrong...
LG does make Tri-Mode Phones...
Right now you can get the vx3200 which although it lacks an outside display it has a very usable speakerphone and is a very good phone...
also the vx6100 is also a LG Tri-Mode phone, and it will be available at Verizon within 2 weeks...
We have a vx4500 and it is a very good phone, but it is digital only...
