Audiovox CDM-9900
car charger
I purchased one and found that, because of the charger's design, it does not make electrical contact in either of the two power outlets in my 2004 Honda Accord. I tested out fine on the Verizon technician's bench. I tried it in my other vehicle, a 2002 Subaru Legacy and it worked fine there, so there it stays. Audiovox tech support recommended buying Sprint's "Universal" Cigarette Lighter Adapter. They said that it should have an output of no greater than 5.3 Volts DC, 1,000 MilliAmps.
I bought a Belkin model that meets that spec and it works fine in my Accord. Yes, the plug on this unit is a bit longer than necessary, but I don't mind.

Is there actually a car charger for the 9900 at the verizon stores? Because I was told at the verizon store that I go to that the one for the 8400/8900 is the right one, yet the silver plug that goes into the phone is too long. Thanks.
Hi all,
I was also told by a Verizon rep that the car charger for the 8400/8900 also works with the 9900. They didn't have the 9900 package so I got the 8400/8900 charger.
I looked at a couple of web sites that sell Audiovox accessories and it seems that car charger model CLC4 works for both the 8900 and 9900. Two such sites are below.
Should I exchange the 8400/8900 charger or give it a try?
Thanks!
Tom

The plug length is meaningless, it's the output that counts!! Improper voltage may charge your phone, but will also harm it too!!

I guess the 8400/8900 charger works, but the barrel that inserts into the phone's receptacle is too long for the 9900 (compare the 8400/8900 charger to your phone's included travel charger and you will see what I am talking about). I found another Verizon store locally that had the actual charger for the 9900. Fits perfect. So if the lack of a perfect fit accessory does not bother you, the charger you have should charge the phone without any problems.
