The only thing i can think of is it is either the wrong format (*.midi when it should be *.mid) or the file is too large. Hope this helps.

WHOA! That is the problem right there! Try using goldwave to bring the mp3 down to 22050Hz, 24Kbps, mono. Then make it a *.mid file. If that doesn't work then u may have to only use part of the song. Goldwave can also be used to do that. www.goldwave.com
GOOD LUCK! 😁

OK, this is out of my league... but perhaps this will catch someone's eye that CAN help you.

This guy has a 5.59mb midi file he wants to make smaller or cut it so it can be used as a ringtone. Anyone out there able to help?

not really because if the email program changes the filename.. it would only be changed in the phone itself i think.

I'm having the same problem, it doesn't play on the phone. When I download a regular midi from the internet, it only plays on QuickTime, and not on Windows Media, however when I download an mp3 (30 secs.) and change the file name, it will not play in QuickTime player, saying it is not a recognized file, but it plays on Windows Media, so I think the filename is changing but the file itself is not. Maybe??? And whatever plays in Quicktime, is easily received on my phone, anything that does not play on quicktime, just plays silence. Any ideas, I tried following all the steps in the other threads. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I know this issue is resolved for Joey, but just as an FYI, I have successfully converted MP3s to Midi (.MID) and send to my phone using hotmail.

As long as the Bitrate and File size are OK, it works fine.

this is probably a stupid question, but does it matter where the file is saved? I save all my files on the desktop. Thanks

Won't matter, as long as you can find them when it comes time to attch to the Email. My first attemtp was a silent file as described earlier in this thread, but I relized I had reduced the bitrate too LOW. So I resaved it at 48, and it worked fine.

What did u have the bitrate set to? I went down to 24kbps and it was fine. Mine are between 30 and 90kb large.

well, i tried again last night and it was silent again, and maybe i had it saved too low, but the file was 92kb and the i saved it as layer 3, 16,000Hz, 16kbbs, stereo. I'll try going a little higher then, also i noticed that when i change the file from .mp3 to .mid, and when i right-click and go to properties, under summary it says that the file is invalid or corrupted, and when i click on the preview tab, it won't preview it because it says the file is invalid or corrupted. Does this happen to anyone else? Thanks again.

guys here is a good site that you can download .mid files and then upload on vzw and send to your phone. look for the ones that are somewhat smal. try this and once you have this down you can try the mp3 route and converting to .mis files.

How do you download these ringtones to your phone. Do you need a usb cable or just send them to your phone. Does Verizon still charge you for these?

Hi again. Thank you to everyone that helped me. I got the ringtone to preview, but when I tried to save, it said that the media gallery was full. I saved the mp3 as 24000Hz, 48kbbs, and the final size was 192Kb. I checked old threads, but could not find a way to fix the media gallery problem, does anyone know how to fix that??? Thanks.

A bit rate of 24K Mono is plenty high for the audio system in a phone...
