Frequent Call List

Popeye35

My previous phone had a feature where it kept a easily accessible list of numbers you call most frequently, sorted in order of the most frequent. I can't find this on the 9900. I know it has a recent call list and quick dial keys, but my wife and I are in the habit of using a frequent caller list. Am I missing something?

Wow, now that would be convenient. But I'm looking and I don't see that feature on the 9900.. 😢

It was a Kyocera 2235.

I have the 9900, and compared to my old 2325 (pretty much like all of the other Verizon/Kyocera offerings), it just doesn't have the usable features. The one I really miss (as mentioned several times in other posts) is the vibrate then ring feature. And being able to assign shortcut keys to the most desired functions (the frequent call list, for instance). Yeah, the cheapy kyocera phones weren't "cool" and colorful, but they really made using a cell phone very intuitive.

I think I might sell the 9900 and go back to a cheapy Kyocera.

You can make your own "shortcut" list under the "My Menu" on the 9900. As for the frequent call list, it has it and even beter ways of getting the numbers have been covered which you can't do on the Kyocera.

But if you are unhappy with it, return it, there are lots of others standing in line waiting to get one!

Overall, the 9900 is the best most feature packed phone Verizon has, maybe not perfect, but you can't please everyone! Six months from now an even better phone will be released, but it won't be perfect either or please eveyone. None has in the past or it would still be for sale!!

Yeah, I saw this. I could get used to this, but I do miss not being able to assign a key to do something. That's what the Kyocera phones do.

I am happy with it. As I learn it, I get used to it. I think I just got used to the Kyocera way of doing things (like I got used to the Sony Ericson way of doing things before that).

I personally think the quality of this phone is on par with any of the other phones that I've seen, including Samsung and LG, and I'm one of those people who used to slot Audiovox in the cheap car stereo category (circa 1982, EGAD)

Now if I could just get used to the way that this phone does that psuedo full-duplex thing, and the lack of a vibrate then ring, then It would be ALMOST perfect ;-)

Why wouldn't you simply use your phone's Speed Dial feature? The CDM9900 has 100 of them available (including #1 which is reserved for Voicemail).

If I want to reach home, I've got it programmed in as #2. My wife's cell phone is #3. My wife's office is #4. Just press and hold the appropriate key for two seconds and the number is automatically dialed for you.

There are 10 one-touch and 90 two-touch quick dial positions that you can use. See page 52 of your User Manual. Or, if you are like my wife, don't read the manual at all. Just bother someone else.

You should also consider using Voice Activated Dialing. Press one key, listen for the "Name Please" prompt, and just speak the name of the person you've registered into the phone. There are 100 slots available.

These are all good suggestions and work very well. The 9900 in fact does have a frequently called list that it keeps current all the time. It is under "Recent Calls" on the main menue and is called "Dialed". It is a list of your frequently called numbers!

To make it more convient to use, just set up the "Dialed" calls icon under "My Menu" and then you will have quick access to the numbers.

But in all fairness, the other ways mentioned are lot better using speed dial or voice. After all, what can be easier than using your voice and not even have to remember numbers or pushing buttons?

Thanks for your replys and ideas. I agree that speed and voice dialing are probably just as good if not better than the frequent list we had gotten so used to. I'm sure it won't be long before I won't even miss it. We love our new phones and happy we upgraded when the phones were at the introductory price. Sound quality and reception have been superb.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but...

If you press the VAD (Send) key at the idle screen you have instant access to the last 100 calls... If you are like most of us the first 10 probably have the numbers you call 95% of the time...

Note: You can also select the mode on this screen to show only dial calls, received calls, or missed calls...

From the idle screen, just do a quick press of the VAD (send) key... You are at the recent call list instantly...

Hey, I don't know if this has been said before (since I don't want to read through all of the replies, I read through some), but you can go to "My Menu" and then change the icons there to be specific contacts. If you assign one of the "My Menu" slots the phonebook, it'll ask you to pick a specific contact in your phonebook. Would that work for you?
