I ordered a 9900 on 10/8 and received an e-mail from verizon stating they were out of 9900's and expected a suplier shipment next week. Should i wait?

DEFINATELY WAIT. You won't be disappointed. I got mine right away, but my brother has to wait too. These phones are going fast, and from what I here, they are not going to be around for much longer. Even if you don't like it, at least you have 15 days to try it out...

Here's the latest from the Verizon store here..they are NOT getting any more in the stores, but the wearhouse has some so you can go in and have it shipped to you. This is the only way to get this phone now.
