Get it Now?

Hey, just a question, is anyone else kind of concerned about the lack of apps on Verizon's Get it Now service? I know the phone just came out, and I know Get it Now's a ripoff, but I just want to know if usually it takes this long for applications to come out for a new phone.

I noticed there wasn't much to choose from either. But I'm sure more will be added as time goes by....just gotta be patient.

There is a free/unlimited IM client available on GetItNow! It gives you the option of using AOL, MS, and Yahoo (but not simultaneously).

Perhaps not much, but a start.

Dude I'll agree with you on the corporate greed part. I had T-mobile before I switched to Verizon (which was a week ago) and there you really do "get more." Text messaging packages for example - T-mobile gives 300 for $3, Verizon gives 100 for $3. 20 bucks for unlimited T-mobile internet verses 80 bucks for Verizon. And all of Verizon's Get it Now stuff is waaay too expensive. Although I will agree with you that Verizon does have its strong points. It's like AOL -- expensive but has ease of use and content/flash (mobile web). Oh well.

Well, that may be true in most cases with GetItNow, but the IM client is indeed free. Under GetItNow, go to 'Get Messaging'.

You are not charged for simply browsing through GetItNow, btw. Yes, Verizon is more expensive than other carriers in many ways, but that's why you need to do your research before hand. Verizon has some better features than other carriers and is valued for different reasons. If other carriers are giving more stuff away, then good for them -- hey, you get what you pay for.

So, unless you have something useful to contribute other than "watch out from the corporate greed!", then find a better carrier that suits your needs and budget.

woah... looks like ur the CEO of Verizon itself... Well said Verizon has the best network and that keeps them going, but you cant take away their corporate greed its still one of their strong points! you just wait till another network compares with verizon then all verizon stocks are gonna fall to $1 per share or less...

Nope, just a common user here 🙂
I think you meant to say "competes" with Verizon. Hey, I'd welcome the change. I'm not any more thrilled with Verizon's rates than the next guy.

I just saw Cingular's commercial last night for 1000 any-time minutes + their minutes 'rollover' service. $39.95 a month! I'm sure Verizon realizes they would blow the competition away with pricing like this, so it's got to be one of two things (or both - what do I know?):
1. 'the coporate greed!' (which does well for investors)
2. Infrastructure.

As Verizon has been building out its network in the last two years, the number of users hasn't shrunk -- it's grown. Two years ago, I was getting a lot of dropped calls (not common in my usage area up until ...
