Its the same reason that there is a six month waiting list to purchase a Toyota Prius hybrid automobile. It is SO popular and therefore not in stock. People have to wait until more arrive from Japan where both the Prius and the CDM-9900 are manufactured.

Two reasons that I can think of.
1). There was so much talk about the V710 and blue tooth (which was such a let down) that people were dying for another phone to come out. 2). When it finally did, it ended up costing less than originally listed.
