has anyone seen this phone in any vzw store in chicagoland western suburbs?

If it is not in the Chicago stores, then just order it by phone from Verizon. See some of the previous postings on how to do it and who to contact.

If you order it, after it arrives Verizon gives you 15 days to "hold it" and "feel it", and if you don't like it, then you can return it!
That's certainly a lot better than the limited time and use you could get "holding" it in a store! The phone has a lot of special features and settings and I don't think you would do yourself justice if you didn't try it out for a few days after reading the manual.
If you have any doubts about how good the 9900 is, just look at the "User Reviews" in Phonescoop. The 9900 has the most 5 ratings (highest) of any phone!

I held it and felt it and didn't care for it at first. I bought it anyway because I thought it had a lot of features for the price and was a good value. After a few days it began to grow on me and am now extremely happy with it.

I think the same thing goes for me as well. When I first went into the store to look at it, I wasn't impressed with it at all, except for the screen of course. My original thoughts on this phone was that the hinge was flimsy...but then again, the model in the store doesn't allow you to close the phone the whole way so that it clicks shut. And now, just like clickhere said, I too am extrememly happy with my 9900 😎 Even after a drop and a few accidental 'bangs' against something, the slippery plastic hasn't scratched one bit...that says a lot in and of itself 😁
