Audiovox CDM-9900
why is this phone not sold @ corprite any more
The availability of this phone has been discussed in detail!!!!! 🤣
There is a lot of good information on this phone in this Forum, try reading some of them! 😛
There is probably a couple dozen postings about the availability of this phone and why it is hard to find!! 🙂
Come on, do some research! 🤣
I think what the poster was asking was why did these events occur with the 9900. Since I have had this phone since the first day it came out I too am curious as to the real reason Verizon would come out with a phone, sell it for a few weeks, and then not sell it any more. I have been following threads on this and other forums and except for the Elvis sightings, I don't think that reason has been revealed to anyone's satisfaction.
I have seen several attempts in previous threads based on information from what seemed to be credible sources, only to be immediately shot down by another opinion, based on a credible source.
I haven't seen anyone posting to this forum be given the respect of an "authority" on the subject, even if someone posted the "truth", it would immediately be followed by several disputing responses.
I don't think that can be answered until someone can quote a news release from an involved company (I.E. Audiovox or Verizon). 😢
I was at a Verizon kiosk at a Circuit City a few days ago and the woman there said she has a number of new 9900's locked in storage and is just waiting for Verizon to send the email giving the okay to sell them. She said she expects that email any day now, but offered no guarantees. I actually would like to buy a second one to have as a backup in case I break or lose the current one. The 9900 owns me. 😁
I managed to get one of the last remaining Avox CDM-9900s earlier this week over VZW's Tele-sales 866 number before Verizon "ran out." According to the customer receipt, it retailed for $239, but they had it on special for $149, minus an automatic $70 instant rebate, plus an extra $50 main-in rebate, so the phone ended up being free. I recently called back and they are now gone and off the tele-sales people's computers. I was told that they sold something like 8,000 the first week the phone was offered, and the numbers increased almost exponentially as the weeks progressed. VZW ordered something like 12-15 thousand more, and they soon disappeared as well. The reason they went so fast, I was told...

More than once I have read of folks getting the 9900 as an upgarde and it being 'free' from VerizonWireless. I just picked up the phone 9 days ago from Verizon. I paid $119 for the phone under the upgrade program (upgrade every 22 months). This is after a $50 rebate. Is there something else I'm missing or should have asked for when I upgraded my phone?
Thanks,
David
I just ordered it over the phone and after the rebates my final cost was $0.00
