Midi Files

I have some midi files downloaded from the Internet - not ringtones but midi music files. They are small file sizes - less than 5kb each. Can I just upload them to the phone through vzwpix as they are or do I have to convert them to ringtones with a midi program such as psplay to use them as ringtones on the phone?

You can use them just as they are...

You can play a full length MIDI song on the 9900, and you can use it as a ringtone, the phone will just use the first 25 seconds or so...

how do you send whole songs? i just tried it, using all the normal settings given by gumby, and it said it doesn't support the file or something...is there another format you're supposed to save longer clips as?

thanks!

It must be a TRUE MIDI file... not an MP3 with a MID extension...

A MIDI song is called a "sequence", and it is a set of instruction to play Instrument=I, at Note=N, at Volume=V, for Time=T... so it is a sequence of instructions...

A whole 2-3 minute song, played by several instruments and drums, might be only 8-12KB long...

If you give me an email address I'll send you a bunch... you can pick from them... I have dozens of them on my phone...
