I'm wondering if Verizon threw in the towel on the 9900. Nobody anywhere knows anything about whether or not this handset is coming anytime soon. No gurus, VZW customer service, retail locations, etc. It has either been seriously delayed for some reason or it is not coming out at all.
My recent conversations with VZW personnel revealed knowledge of the LG7000 being released imminently and the V710 coming "very soon." They have not even heard of the 9900. Is there anybody out there who has any first-hand knowledge of what is going on? Hell, I'd even settle for some second-hand info at this point.

It's a mystery to me too! I have been watching daily this forum since March 2004 waiting for this phone. If you go back and explore some of the pages "here" you will see some VERY PASSIONATE responses. The mis-information and dis-information inflamed many people. The silence of both Audiovox and Verizon is almost deafening? and perplexing? Some have stated by the time this phone comes out,(if it comes out) the state of the art will have already taken the next leap. It would have been nice, "even dazzling" if Verizon could have been ready at the same time Sprint launched the Audiovox CDM-9950 last February/March. I am at a loss for words and disappointed over what started out as a bright and exciting story.

This is what I think may of happened:
The vx6000 phone was the biggest seller for last year.
LG makes a better deal with Verizon to have the
vx7000 be the first phone with Video Msg.
So the vx7000 comes out first, and the cdm9900 a few weeks
or month later.

A friend in a manhattan store told me that one of the big bosses he knows is testing and currently has the 9900. So far he likes it, but still no definite release yet....close though.

If you go to the Audiovox website, they are selling accesories for the 9900/9950. So as presumed before, my guess also, the phone will be coming out.

Sorry to let you know but it is a no go for the 9900. No reason given but seems the plug has been pulled. Going with the LG 7000 and the Mot V710 for the moment.

I can definitely believe it because there has been no info from credible sources about the 9900 for quite some time. What is your source of information on the demise of the 9900?

I am a fan of many types of phones since I work in the industry. Any phone that stretches the industry from where it is to where it is going, I am a fan of. My sources are incredibly credible and I only referring to VZW not carrying this phone. I would imaging that someone else might pick it up. I can only expect an apology when the info is made public. Thanks.
