Audiovox CDM-9900
9900 Toshiba
I was told by Audiovox that the 9900 is made by Toshiba and very similar to the 9500. The 8600 and 8900 are made by a division of Hyundai. Supposedly nothing like these other two inferior products. If anyone knows anything more about this product or how the 9500 performed I'd love to hear it.

Well I can't confirm or deny that, but Something I can tell you for fact; all the 9000 series phones were made in Japan, all the 8000 series phones are made in Korea. This would definitely lend to your theory. I also know several of the previous models of the 9000 series often came up as Toshiba in the billing system instead of Audiovox. I do hope so because I have been really leery about recommending Audiovox to customers due to how poorly the 8000 series preforms.
