Motorola V710
Workaround to transfer MP3 to phone
If you have a TF card, just put the MP3 on the TF card (using your pc and a card reader). Then put the TF card in the V710, and go to one of the MP3's on it. Choose the option to Send as Message and put in a bogus email address (like 5555555@verizon.com, so you dont get charged the 25cents). Go to your Outbox and view that failed message. You will be able to save it to your phone's memory from the Outbox.
Thanks to Humpa.
So I knew that there was problems with applications working with this crippled phone. But I thought I would be able to work around.
So if this works, I will need to get a TF card. Do I need anything else. Should I buy the one from Verizon, do I need the adapter to work on the PC. Probably do, huh?
Whats the best way to jump into the TF card?
Thanks..want to get some ringtones on there, and I am not going to pay $1.99 each.
Otherwise these 3 phones will go back. 15 day WORRY FREE no hassle guarantee.
When you first get your transflash card, put it in the phone. This will add the correct folders to the card.
Now connect it to your computer. Place the MP3s you want in the Sounds folder (Motorola:Shared:Sounds). You will want to trim your MP3s though if you want to use them as ring tones. I haven't figured out how small they have to be, but I limited them to 15 seconds and this seems to work. Longer ones don't allow the option to s...

SInce I am new to the cellphone, (first one for me), but wife has had one, I tried to send an mp3 as a mesage to a bougus email address. Sometimes it is successfull. And sometimes it fails. Then I go to the output, and I can see it is busy, and I can pause it, but I can't scroll down to the letters that dont match the song, so I cant or dont have the option to save. Must be doing something incorrectly. Will keep trying, but maybe someone will have a helpful suggestion.
Bought a Bluetooth adapter today, Transflash, and all I need now is a cable for the 710. Wish I could find one local, for a good price. Southern Cal
For those who want to trim their .mp3's into ring tones, go to www.mptrim.com
After selecting an mp3 in the transflash, how do you choose the option "Send as a Message"? I can't seem to find this option on my v710.
Thanks
does anyone know the mp3 size limit for use as a send in message file????...
i tried a 12 second mp3 @ 256knps and it wouldn't work, when i switched the file to 128kbps the send message option showed up... so expect that it is not a matter of length, but of file size...
I have the new E815 and it looks like VZW disabled the way this is done because I just tried it and the only option to save items is the # or email address (re: the workaround for MP3 transfers from the outbox to store as a ringtone).
Does anyone know of another way without going through the seamedit process, it seems cumbersome and there are no guarantees that I might fry my phone.
Thanks, Krookkid
If you let the MP3 play then finish the only save option you get is for the sent to address.
