Moto V 710 voice dialing is deceptive!

by lorna Today, 9:06 PM

I was VERY interested in that Moto V 710 because it has all the features I want PLUS a bigger display. However, I took the time to download the User Manual and found that Voice Dialing for this cell phone means "Saying the digits into the phone" NOT "Saying the person's name."

How does this make it any easier on me? I would have to either know the phone # by heart, or I would have to search for it in the V710, and that takes time, and more so in a poorly lit room. How is saying "384-6621" easier than saying, "Gladys"?

I am now using a Moto V 60i, much less technologically advanced, and I am able to do Voice Dialing by saying the person's name.

I like the two features you are speaking about. It does name dial(and it works)and use the antenna only if needed. I really have to have a trimode phone because my family live in a hole up in Kentucky. So I prefer a pullout antenna.

The problem with Kentucky is that a lot of the cellular places are family owned and so are the towers and its hard for Verizon to contract those towers out to give Verizon customers the coverage that other states have.

The voice dialing on the V710 the "Obey Moto" is way better than the voice dialing on the E815. On the E815 you have to verbally program your digit dial and so forth its a real pain to be quite honest. You also get better features on the V710 "Obey Moto" than on the E815 as well.

I had the v710 for about 8 months, then dropped it in water. I now have the e815.

As far as I've been able to notice, the features are on the e815 are the same as or better on the e815 than on the v710.

I've used the digit dial multiple times and never had to program it. Never even bothered to check if there's a place to do so. I know the v710 did had a place to go to fine tune the digit dial.

As far as features, they're the same (some with improvements like more voice commands), except for those that Verizon has decided ti criple. As for those, they've done the same thing with the newer versions of the v710.

Digit dial, you speak the numbers you want to dial.
Name Dial, you say the names that are in your phone book and it recognizes them and dials accordingly.

The antenna is good to have when in fringe areas, or in an office building and go from 2 bars to none, that antenna being up, lets me hold on to the 2 bars.

Yes, I did get informed about the name dial and digit dial, but thank you for telling me about the antenna. I guess that it is a good thing, then, because it is not required that you pull it out; you only have to pull it out if the reception is bad. -Lorna
