every1 is getting so excited over bluetooth technology...i would like to kno whats so great about it...besdies being able to talk on a handsfree thing (which i dont have and will not waste money to buy) and besides being able to print pictures with a bluetooth printer (which i dont have and will not buy), whats the point of bluetooth??? like what else can it do??? also i heard it was outdated technology, is this true???

i was thinking about getting this phone but then i realized its going to cost $100-$200 more for something that i will rarely use, so can you tell me a phone coming out that has most of the same features of the v710, just without the useless bluetooth??? thanks 😳

king gratz,

I completely understand where you're coming from.

I still plan on purchasing the V710 regardless, but I really have no use for the Bluetooth. I do, however, hope to be one of the first 710 people to I can take advantage of Motorola's Bluetooth promotion and get the free headset.

I am considering getting Bluetooth installed in my car, however I have not been able to find anyone who has had this done - and it isn't cheap. I drive a Hyundai Elantra, not an Acura TL or a Lexus so I don't have Bluetooth already installed.

I really have no use in a PDA especially since I use my phone for email and that's the only thing I would have to do on the run.

However, I do feel comfortable with this phone having Bluetooth. I do...

Here are some of the ways I use Bluetooth with my Sony/Ericsson T610…

My PC lets me know if I have an incoming call, voice message, email or SMS via pop-up alerts. (This is useful if you left your phone in another room or something).

I can connect to the Internet (through my T610 and T-mobile) and send email or SMS from my PC/Mac or Palm Tungsten PDA.

I can sync my address book from my PC/Mac and Tungsten with my phone.

I can control my PC/Mac mouse with my Bluetooth phone.

I can select and play MP3’s on my PC/Mac from my phone.

I can exchange Pictures and files between my PC, Mac, Tungsten T3 and other BT phones.

Many more uses at www.myT610.net

The only thing that has me interested in the V710 from Verizon is the c...

Personally, I'll use the BT to turn the 710 into a wireless modem for my iPaq. I already have a BT GPS receiver that I use daily, and makes my life alot easier.
At your age, I can see why you wouldn't see the value in something like that - I definitely seek different technology now, than I did in 1992, when I was 17. Now I can't even see the usefulness of the camera feature, but love the benefits of getting rid of all the wires.
I wish someone would make a phone with BT, a great speakerphone...

🙂 I have a 2004 Acura TL which has a standard built in Bluetooth Handsfree system. When your bluetooth phone rings it mutes the stereo, displays the incoming phone number on the dash, and push a button on the steering wheel to answer. The sound quality is excellent and many people on the other side can't tell that you are on "handfree" mode. You can preset phone numbers with your voice and dail with a push of one button. It also links up to my navigation system so I can dial a restaurant directly without having to key in the numbers.

I think my point was that bluetooth is still really unimplemented and for everyone that must have it on their phones, the uses seem very, very limited so far. I do think your car sounds cool and if I had it, I would be looking for bluetooth too. But for the rest of us, come on, do you really think bluetooth is really going to do us all that good right now? The headsets are freakin' huge and make everyone look like Lt. Ahura from the original Star Trek.

LOL circuslove. Bluetooth is very useful and quite well implemented (in select devices) as a low-power cable replacement technology. That's all it was meant to be, and when a manufacturer does it right (I'm looking at SonyEricsson now, and Motorola is sulking in the corner) it works very, very well.

I am hopeful, but not expectant, that the V710 will implement Bluetooth in a highly functional manner. You're right about it being "unimplemented" in some respects - I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that some mfr's simply don't bother to provide as many profiles as others. Case in point appears to be the V710 vs. the Nokia 6255i (I'm not sure about that number). The Nokia is expected to have file transfer protocols in place (among...

had a cl is that close enough? Just a boring volvo driver now. ok, enough history, it was like totally sarcasm. I think bluetooth is cool but no one seems to be really taking advantage of all the amazing stuff that was promissed three years ago. I am a big proponent being early adopters and taking advantage of technology. it just sux that the grand promiss of bluetooth has been relegated to replacing a 36" cord. Now TOOTHING, that is something I would not have expected, LOL!

Remember that several companies make aftermarket Bluetooth car adaptors... You can add MOST of the functionality you see in the Acura to any car (It won't be integrated into the dash, though).

Where one would go to find such adapters. I have an Infiniti, and it did not have the same option as the new Acura TL. So, retro-fitting it would be a nice option
Thanks

Here's one made by Motorola, the Car Kit with Bluetoothâ„¢ Wireless Technology - model 98500/S9642A

Obviously you'd need to get this professionally installed but then it will work with any 1.1 compliant Bluetooth phones, not like other car kits specific to your phone model.
