710 vs 810?

I've been checking out the 810 and just starting reading about this phone. First impression I thought that a model higher numerically meant better. Is that the case? Which phone do you all think is better between the two of these? What about prices?...

Well lets see...
the 710 has a 1 megapixel camera, MP3 Player, and something called bluetooth. Offhand without any real thought I would have to go with the v710 by a factor of oh... maybe... A MILLION!!!! I may be off by one or two though....
lol
Although the 710 will probably cost at least $150 more than the 810. All depends on whether you want the current best or not.

how much do you think the 710 will go for with a plan renewal?

Like I posted 2 months ago, the phone will be about $300 with a 2 yr. contract and a mail in rebate of $50. On a 1 year contract, the phone will be $350-400 with no rebate. This is via my tech guy at the NYC store, the huge one. Now granted this info is 2 months old, but I think it sounds the most feasable????

Also, people, the phone, will drop in price in 1 month to probably $75-$100 less. This will mean less $ and probably less kinks in it. Although I will probably be one of the first to get the phone, even though I know better and know there will be some tweaks needed, it is better to wait on the reviews and get a phone with the new software the put in after a month with the tweaks fixed/modified.

It could be worth buying it early since Motorola is giving away a speakerphone or headset to the first 710. No idea how to monitor if you get one or not. If I knew I wouldnt be one of the first 710, I'd rather wait the few weeks to pay less. When did he tell you he thought it would be available?

Well, as of 2 months ago, he said the July 10th, as per the "V-7(July)-10 (10th)"

He also told me the VX3200 would be out this past 7th, and he was on the ball, so I take his word now. He said the 9900 will be out at least 2 weeks before the V710 though, and the V810 around the same time at the 9900. I am trying to get in touch with him, I will keep everyone posted upon what he says.

Also, in regards to the questions about knowing if we get new firmware/software:

When there is a rebate posted, or a drop in price, there is usually a software/firmware update just installed, or lurking around the corner. They do this so that they can say that it has the "updated software" in the phone, when in actuality, if you bring your phone in, they will put it in your phone free of charge, but there is the possibility of losing your phonebook. So BACK YOUR DATA UP before you update.

Aren't you able to synch this phone to your outlook contacts on your computer? --If this is true, then there is no real need to back it up, as the next time you synch, they would all be replaced.

Syncing it with Outlook on the comp is backing it up. The term backing any kind of software up means storing it in another place so you can apply it to something else.

How do you know you're getting updated software/firmware if you wait?
