I could not wait on Verzion any longer. Called Cingular on this past Wednesday and had a SWEET v600 with my ported working in my hand with my number by Friday at 6:00pm. Great phone build is good I LOVE bluetooth--works like a charm, was tough going at first but once I figured out everthing started to working like a champ. Thanks for your help Cingular Data Group!! 😁

For those who can no longer wait for a sweet phone with all the bells and whitles all you really need is a v600 and its just $200 bucks from Cingular. I really don't need a MP3 player or a video recorder. The camera is a bonus actually. The calendar function on the phone is very usable. A very good personal communication device for voice and income text data with POP3 and IM...

I hope you're not disappointed at your V600 when your "great" GSM phone's face plate chips or worse cracks! (very known issue with the V600). You may have some very serious problems with Cingular's terrible reception/network. And I hope you don't ever have to put up with the very known billing and customer service issues Cingular has! But more power to you! enjoy your phone dude! Just remember to RELAX when you're placed on hold as you try to get someone from customer service on the phone to help you, and don't get mad if at the end they just hang up on you (their customer service reps know how to do this well when they just don't know how to help you!) Sorry to hear you you're with Cingular now, I hope you're not on a 2 yr contract! Se...

Sorry you don't like Cingular. Here in Louisiana has an excellent reputation, but I can understand if you have had a bad experience with Cingular. I have called customer service a couple of times since I got the great phone and my questions were answered promptly and accurately. I assume you are a fan of Verizon. I think Verizon has GREAT support as well. Since Verizon uses the proprietary CDMA instead of the OPEN standard GSM the technology is more regulated and hence evolves at a much slower rate resulting in phones that are not as advanced as GSM phones. If you want a wireless phone/carrier just to make calls and nothing else CDMA and Verizon is not a bad choice.

Just wanted to clear that up - it's getting frustrating seeing it up there, thinking someone has found a way to get their hands on the V710 when in fact that's not the case here. 🙂

Every time I see it my heart jumps - such is the ill effect of an off-topic post subject, whether inadvertent or not.

Huh?

You use the phrase "open standard". I do not think that it means what you think it means.

In actuality, neither GSM nor CDMA2000 are any more or less open than the other. Both systems generally require you to sign a variety of licenses and pass a variety of conformance tests in order to have anybody be willing to purchase it. In both cases, you can do whatever you want ...

Basically what I was saying was that CDMA is controlled by Qualcom, they own the patient and therefore dictate the direction the technology moves toward making it a proprietary or "closed" standard as you put it. GSM is not controlled by a single company such as Qualcom. CDMA technology can only advance as fast as Qualcom can develop and manage said technology. GSM is nonproprietary where more than one company which able to design, develop, and support the technology. My point is that GSM will more than likely offer new technologies before CDMA. For individuals who only look for a wireless technology to simply make calls CDMA will meet that need, but for voice/data convergence technologies GSM will be the leader. Every wonder why AT&T is the...

the wait will be well worth it. although qualcomm does have the patents and licenses. CDMA is still the best form of cellular technology. TDMA and GSM suck. They both have clarity and interfernce issues. while you may be enjoying a pimping phone you aren't enjoying the clarity and coverage that Verizon the countries number one CDMA provider offers. so if you live near a major city or by a major freeway like I-5 your in business if not, well sucks to be you. CDMA rules and the V710 will be well worth the wait. Peace i'm out!
