How will Verizon charge for bluetooth internet?

I currently use one of the old Kyocera Palm phones on the Verizon network for both voice and data. When I use data apps on the Palm - the device connects to the internet, using my plan minutes (which are unlimited on nights and weekends). I'm not charged for how much data I download.

How will this work with the 710 connected to a Palm or laptop as a bluetooth modem? Will I get free use during my unlimited minutes times (nights and weekends)? Will I need to buy one of their data plans?

Think of Bluetooth a replacement for the cable. Verizon is not going to "charge" for using Bluetooth (except for the price of the phone and/or accessories). 🙂

...and supposedly (although you may want to call Verizon just to make sure) your data calls will still come out of your minutes, unless you want always-on and have a megabyte plan.

Will that allow for the best possible connection speed with the phone? Or will I need one of their megabyte plans to get a faster speed?

I've just always generally be confused between the megabyte plans - and what I have, which is grab as much data as you can during your minutes.

You might look at alt.cellular.verizon for more info. Look for NA-MOU (National access minutes of use), formerly known as EN-MOU (Express Network...).

There's so much information there I think it'd be a tome to recreate it here (really - I'm not trying to be unhelpful).

NA-MOU, if you can get it (granted, darned near impossible for some people) is probably what you want, because you can use the express network with plan minutes. But in my experience Express Network isn't all that much better than the standard "qnc" dialup that's baked free (out of plan minutes) into every Verizon Wireless plan. NA-MOU doesn't cost you anything, though, and that's why it's hard to get. I think it was designed to allow picture phones to send pics at high...
