Sprint SE T608 vs. Verizon Motorola V710

I had been eyeing the 710 for some time & was convinced that I'd buy it as soon as it came out...but decided that I couldn't wait so I signed up for Sprint service, & bought a SE T608. Then I just got an email from Motorola about the V710 👿 (Coming from an ancient Nokia 7160 on Unicel). Bluetooth is pretty good, display in daylight does kind of suck, but the service here (Burlington, VT) seems to be great. I do have 13 days left on my trial period for sprint, so the question here....should I just return the phone / cancel the service & wait the 10 (+or-) days to get the V710...is Verizon that much better? I do think the phone is probably better...opinions anyone?

I have the Sony Ericcson T608. I was able to get it to work on Verizon's network and have been using it for about 3 months. That being said I an sending my T608 off for service today. The Bluetooth radio on the phone has to be one of weakest I have ever used. When I use the T608 with a Bluetooth headset (same results with Jabra BT250, Motorola HS810, and Plantronics M300), I get static and dropped calls on a regular basis. I would dial my voice mail and only hear 50% of what was being said because the bluetooth link would cut out and in constantly. This happened when my phone was in my shirt pocket. The strange thing is that I could consistently connect to my PDA and Laptop with Bluetooth and get a fairly constant data rate of 56 kps. The bo...

Hi Editor,

I sure home mine is a fluke. It's just that I have read a few posts at Howards forum and at T608.com where people have had the same problem I have descibed. Have you not had the static problem? Have you been able to use your Bluetooth headset without issue? If so which headset do you use? I should buy that one. I guess sending the phone to be serviced was my last hope. Any thoughts and experiences you have has with the phone would be most helpful. Thanks!

I am using Bluetooth with the Acura TL, a much more sophisticated integration. The phone still has to output the RF power to the Handsfree link, and it has to do double duty to support the screen display functions, so, I think it's an isolated issue to a run of phones which you may have gotten. And that just sucks.

Make them fix it or EAT it... FULL PRICE too.
Tell them you'll contact the Attorney General of your state, the FCC, and the Consumer Affairs Department!

I sure hope your right. I can put up with the screen and all the other annoyaces if the Bluetooth would work well. When getting the RMA # from Sony Ericsson I said I wanted a replacement phone sent to me first while mine was being repaired. They tried hard not to laugh.

If the V710 comes out soon I will be all over it. Thats if they don't cripple the Bluetooth like many have suggested Verizon wants to do.

I would definitely return the T608 for a couple of reasons. First, Sony Ericsson doesn't even make CDMA phones anymore. That's the digital cellular technology used by both Sprint and Verizon. From what I heard, they got rid of that whole group in the company or something. Second, Verizon's network is much better than Sprint's. JD Power & Associates and Consuner Reports surveys show Verizon Wireless having the best service in the top cellular markets around the country.

I guess I kind of agree... I've been hearinng about SE laying off it's entire CDMA staff, & dropping support for this & all related phones. Seems like I'd be better off w/ a different phone if I stay w/ sprint or just going w/ verizon. You know the bluetooth isn't really even the most important thing, it's the iSync compatibility.

I don't think I can deal w/ the slow menus & not being able to see the screen during the day...

One good thing though, Sprint service seems to be really good up here...& it's only 35 for 500 min, add 5.00 for 7:00 free nights, & 5.00 to eliminate any roaming charges. Oh well...guess it's back to sprint you go...

Thanks for the advice.

LOOSE the PHONE!! The ONLY decent thing about the phone is bluetooth. I have a cracked T608 on Verizon, and you can't read the display worth a S#&T. Yea, the reception is better than the Moto, but the display is just SO bad, and Sprint SUX, at least in my area. Take my word, you will HATE this phone like I do SOONER than later.
