EV-DO in XV8000

hi! i'm brazilian and i'd like to kown if this phone works without the EV-DO system! because here in brazil, the technology used is CDMA and i'm not sure what would happen if i brought one of this here. thanks!

You would have to check in with your service provider, because this phone is made for frequencies for the united states and maybe the frequencies for brazillian CDMA might be different...also, maybe Brazil uses PCS CDMA frequencies in which this phone will not work.

This phone will work on a CDMA network that uses 800mhz and 1900mhz.

The Ev-DO system is the data side of the phone. As far as I know, it has nothing to do with voice calls.

Very true. Even in the US, you don't have to activate/provision the handset for EVDO to use it. When making voice calls, it uses either Cellular or PCS depending on coverage. When making data calls, it will first search for EVDO if provisioned. If none is available, it will connect to 1X_RTT (National Access).
