LG VX-8000

The 8940 has not made the circuits like the 8000 so I cannot speak from experience other than saying the 8000 is rock solid feeling and LG's typically very reliable. The MP 3 player on the LG is nice with controls on the outside of the phone. If the 8940 follows the company's history (8940 made by UTStarcom formerly Audiovox in name but made by other people-confusing I know) it should be a decent phone as well. If you live in an EV-DO market, the 8000 will be the one to get because the 2.2 in screen allows good viewing of the VCast that Verizon is coming out with in Feb. Video clips are amazing on the phone and you can watch straight up or turn the phone on its side to make it wide screen(so to speak).
