No firmware update for Ohio!?

I just got off the phone with a Verizon store in Columbus, OH, and was told the firmware update would not be made available in Ohio.

This sounds ridiculous. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

It just hasn't been loaded to that store's PC yet.

Just had two phones updated this afternoon in Norwalk, CT. Took about 45 minutes per phone, costs nothing. The tech person thought that the update was to fix some problem relating to calls to a land line. Other than that, he was unaware of the volume bug or the reception problem.

Follow up:

After getting the aforementioned ridiculous answer from the local Verizon store, I called the Business Support Center in central Ohio.

The rep. I spoke with didn't know anything about the volume bug or a firmware update (didn't even know what firmware was). But said her husband had the same phone and was having the same problem. She was so glad to hear that a fix was coming!

At any rate, she called a level 2 technician and said he didn't know anything about the problem or ...
