New Firmware First Impressions
In an earlier thread I reported that I was able to get the phone upgraded to version T61VZV02 and it seems to have been worthwhile. I can not speak to the volume problem reported by others on the list as I never experienced such; however, I can say that I am now get reasonable reception in areas of the office where I got none before and for me that is a major plus.

Hmmmm, this is very exciting, possible good news. (Unless they also erected a tower near you) 😲
I'm in a PCS (1900mHz) area where in-office reception is crappy. Hoping this update helps somehow.

I ran a test wherein I went to an internal area of the office where I never got a signal prior to the firmware upgrade and tried calling out with Force Mode set to "Cell only" and again with "PCS only" and I regret to report that the phone never got a signal with the "PCS only" mode but did with "Cell only" mode. But this is only one test point it may work for you in your office. If I were you I would still get the upgrade; you certainly should not be worse off for the effort.

Yeah,
I've now got the update and see zero difference in RF. I too have to switch to cell only inside buildings.

How does one upgrade the firmware on this phone?
Thanks.

The phone can only be updated at a Verizon Service Center. It takes about 45 minutes per phone. I had two done today in northern Scottsdale, AZ. You might want to call ahead and make sure they have the software before going in.
