New Firmware First Impressions
In an earlier thread I reported that I was able to get the phone upgraded to version T61VZV02 and it seems to have been worthwhile. I can not speak to the volume problem reported by others on the list as I never experienced such; however, I can say that I am now get reasonable reception in areas of the office where I got none before and for me that is a major plus.

Options beyond Verizon store for firmware, like independent reps? In the sticks..
I'm out in the sticks, the nearest Verizon store is about 45 miles away, will the independed cell phone shops who rep Verizon get the firmware upgrade, or is it pretty much a "corporate techie only" thing?
Thanks for all the help and info everyone has been posting.

Firmware Upgrade
I just received word from a VZW Rep that the Firmware upgrade has been released to the stores for upgrade. I called one in VA and they said they have it and to stop by anytime.
Hope this helps all having the volume problem. 🙂

Route incoming call to voice mail
the user guide states by pressing the side scroll key an incoming call will be ended (which should direct it to voice mail). which is exactly the way it worked on my 4400. what in fact happens is the phone stops ringing but the caller will hear the max number of rings before voice mail is reached. both, lg and verizon support state the phone is working as designed. anybody have the same concerns or ideas?

Just got back from the VZ store. Rep said he got the new software yesterday and did not know anything about it. First store could not figure out how to download it, but went to another store in Beavercreek and they had me out the door in 30 min.Volume seems to be fixed.

missed called notification on an LG6100
Is there any way to get the phone to beep when you miss a call? From what I see you can only get an alert when you have a message and not just a missed call.

New Firmware - What are the changes?
Does anyone know with certainty what changes are in the new firmware? (Lets not waste time with speculation.) Thanks.
VX-6100 Signal Fluctuation
Picked up a 6100 under NE2 last Thursday and have noticed that the signal indicator fluctuates quite a bit (esp. compared to the old V60). It will usually stay from 3 - 5 but sometimes it will go from 5 down to 1 and then back up to 4 or 5 bars. It never seems to lose service or go to analog. (I'm in the Central NJ area, and coverage has usually been excellent.)
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. As an example, the phone will be showing 5 bars on the outer display. I'll open it and find it at 0-1 bars and then it will jump back up to 5. Sometimes it appears to be related to orientation of the antenna, sometimes not.
When I put it into field test mode, the RX power never seems to vary more than a couple of dB during these wil...

Voicemail Config
The initial configuration of the voicemail settings on the VX6100 is to dial *86.
The VM literature from Verizon says this only works when you're on-network. When you're off-network, you must dial your own number.
So, wouldn't it make more sense to just dial your own number all the time instead of having to remember these details?
To that end, I created a contact entry just for that.
I noticed that speed dial button #1 is automatically associated with "Voicemail", which was defined as *86.
I couldn't find where this was defined, so I just changed speed dial #1 to point to the contact entry I created.
Later, I found where "Voicemail" is defined. Under the Messages menu, option 7. So I changed this from *86 to my own number....

Changing # of Rings Before Voice Mail Picks Up
Is there any way to change the number of times the phone rings before it is transferred over to Voice Mail or to manually send a call to Voice Mail after the first ring?

Just wondering if anyone out there knows what specifications one would need to set a picture at in order to make it look the proper size for your phone?
Things like JPG/GIF format, size, & file size would be most helpful. Thanks!

No firmware update for Ohio!?
I just got off the phone with a Verizon store in Columbus, OH, and was told the firmware update would not be made available in Ohio.
This sounds ridiculous. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
Thanks.
