My cingular rep says that the phone has been put on hold until the first of the year so that new technology can be added! What the crap? Then why does Cingular have the phone available on their site?? Grrrrrrr. 👿

👿 After my rep told me about it being delayed till next year I called Cingular and the girl I talked to knew nothing about the phone, period. She finally found it on their site (after I helped HER find it) and she proceeded to read me the descriptions of it from their site. So who the Hell knows when this phone will even come out. I'm getting aggravated at the fact that none of these people seem to know what they're doing.

What do you expect them to know about a phone NOT even released in the US yet? All we know is what we are told. I have seen MANY posts that the phone will be "officially" avail Nov. 18 but that doesnt seem to be good enough for you. The phone is avail. on supporters of this website, let alone the many thousands on Ebay if you are in such a hurry. 😉

I second that notion. Makes sense, however, that Day 1 starts Nov 15th. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

To be honest I am a rep from attws, now cingular and we are told nothing about new equipment until it is released...we aren't even given a preview of phones coming out until it is already released. That and we also dont even look at the website usually(we have a plethora of other systems that tell us different info and have limited Access on the website) and we actually dont even have access to www.newcingular.com. So dont get mad at people that are just as uninformed as you are.

I can confirm with planet Earth. I'm a Cingular Wireless employee ... we NEVER receive advanced notice of new equipment or new rate plans, promotions, etc. Things have been a little better in the past years, but even still, we usually received notification of new phones the day that it's released/available to the public.

I had a customer ask me about the RAZR phone, which I had never heard of before. I had to come to the phonescoop just to get information regarding the phone!

That's why there are so many cingular reps on this forum. I use it at least 25 times a day for many reasons to assist with customers.

Ditto with all the other Cingular reps here. I am in Telesales, and we rarely, if ever, get info on new phones until they come out. the only reason we may know a little more about this one is because it was one of the phones involved in the latest Motorola contest.

I can see where the customer would be very frustrated, however. I have mentioned this very subject more than once to the powers that be here, but to no avail, obviously.

AWS employees have access to seeing new phone models which are coming out. They just need to be proactive about searching intranet sites.

Important rule of thumb: reps on the phone know about service, reps in the store know equipment. The majority of time phone reps spend is with billing issues that stores generally don't or don't want to deal with; unless you're calling telesales I wouldn't expect them to know much in detail about phone release dates, or phones in general.

Just out of curiosity, *what* new technology?

There will not be any delay until next yr. Motorola releases new phones every qtr. They will just make a revised issue of the phone 😉

what kind of revision? If we buy now, what will we miss out on in the revision?
Also, how long before the price of this phone drops? I bought a V400 back in march for 300 and now it is 59.00

I seriously doubt that this phone will EVER come down much in price. Take for instance, the V600... If you can even find it, it is STILL around 200.00 and its been discontinued since August.
As for the V400, the only reason its at the price that it is most definitely is because of the V551 which is going to go at 149.99 with a 50.00 Rebate this month.
The V551 is the new equivalent to the V600, but a lot more affordable.
So, dont expect the V3 RAZR to come down in price anymore than say.... 50.00 or so depending on the market. I really dont think Motorola made this phone for use by everyone.

I believe the V620 will actually be the direct replacement to the V600.

Um actually, this is straight from a Cingular regional mgr, the V551 is the release to replace the V400 and the V600
