I've been following the comments on this phone for several months and am still wondering if I want to part with the cash to purchase it.
The recent postings on availibility of Lockline insurance have also gotten me spooked. I can't imagine walking around with a $500 phone without insurance coverage. I've been a cingular customer in Lubbock< TX almost 8 years and have never been without coverage. I've always had Moto phones and have had to use insurance 3 times to reploace defective phones.

You do raise an interesting point. One of the first things I let customers know is that the V3 is not eligible for insurance. Even if insurance is currently on their account. Lock/Line will not insure anything over $400, and I don't see them offering a "premium" service. What a revelation.
Why should I spend $500 plus on a phone that Cingular cannot provide insurance for? I am SOOO glad to know this BEFORE I go and buy!
Surely they could insure for the Max of $400 and leave the remainder up to the customer??
at least this would help.
Could a Cingular rep please give us more info on this??
