Is anyone familiar with the 850 headset? It doesn't appear to be for sale in the US yet. Dealers are only taking preorders.

I have one. I LOVE it. Much better sound quality than the 810, which I have also. The 850 works better with the v3 also. I also used both with my v600, and I prefer the 850. Just wish my v3 was black now. . .
I bought mine from cellularconcepts.com. Best of luck.

How about the extended range? The V3 has extended-range BT but I forget if the 850 supports it. Its probably something that is hard to test but since you have both the 810 & 850, it could be worth a shot?

The 850 has blutooth 1.2, the 810 has 1.1. There is a difference in sound quality and when I got the phone (v3) Monday I did test the range, unscientifically though. I work in an office on the 39th floor in midtown Manhattan and regularly lost the connection from the phone with my 810/850 and v600. HOWEVER, with the v3/850 combo I was able to walk and talk away from my normal range by about 20-30 feet and hold a conversation with no dropouts for a noticeably longer amount of time! I'm sure my situation is not typical but I do find the 850 to be a better headset, if only for the bluetooth 1.2 and so far no dropped connections to either my phone or computer (a mac).

Thanks- I understand it's unscientific but still a data point in the right direction. Sounds like the battery performance, sound quality, and color make this a nice improvement on the 810.
And you gotta like that Mac connection (from another Mac user).

L O V E it. Now if they could make all the phone tools and such work on a Mac I would be in heaven. I'll be honest though I think I still prefer the silver color. Not crazy about the black color because it doesn't match the phone.

I know what you mean about a Mac version with native USB drivers on the Mac too. I have to keep a PC around for MPT and not much else (a Garmin GPS) other than supporting the anti-virus, firewall, & anti spyware industry.
Bluetooth connections to the Mac for image and sound file transfers is sweet.

While I think it will be worthwhile, I like my 810, have 2 of them. Defiunately not paying over $100 for it, one can get an 810 at about $50 on ebay now, the price for the 850 will drop as well as 2005 moves forward.
