? If a phone is unlocked does that mean that I can use it with any phone company, such as Cingular sells this phone but could I use it with Verizon? thanks

Yes.

An unlocked phone means that even if it were a Cingular phone, you could use another provider's SIM in it and have service.

Verizon doesn't use SIM cards, so phone would not be compatible with the Verizon network. Verizon uses CDMA (which is like enhanced digital network) where as this phone is GSM, so it is a no go with Verizon 😢

There's a Yes, but there's also a No.

An unlocked phone will work on other carriers with the same technology. An unlocked Sprint phone "could" work on Verizon. A Cingular phone will not work on Verizon. An unlocked V3 will work with other GSM carriers (such as T-mobile), but not with Verizon nor Sprint.
