Wow the V3 is terrible! Naked in Mink.

I had the black one for less then 24 hours and took it back in favor of a SE520a

The phone is all flash and no substance. what kind of expensive executive type phone like this cannot be used as a contact manager? NO addresses or notes allowed? Please Even the SE520a can be used as a contact manager. MPT3 is a joke and extremily buggy. I feel bad for those who bought this phone for $500 when it was first released.
The Moto SW is terrible

I have and love my MPX220. IT blows away the V3 in evry category includng picture quality.I like the SE520a as well

Hmmmm...you buy a phone and are surprised it's not a contact manager. News flash, it doesn't make coffee either. 😲

However, it is the best phone I have ever owned in terms of making, receiving, and holding calls, but that's probably not that important to you...

Why not have a phone that is a great contact manager AND makes calls and has more memory and is smaller and has great reception and is not old news.

The MPX220 smaokes the Razr...hell the free SE520a smokes the V3...Its all flash and no substance.

When I see someone with the Razr I shake my head the same way when I see someone driving an H3 Hummer.

They may as well be holding up a sign:

"Will work for attention"

What an EXTREMELY judgmental comment....

Find me another offering that is 1/2 inch thick and I'll consider it feature to feature. THAT's what sets the RAZR apart (RAZR thin, get it?) AND it's what makes it the best phone I've ever owned. In fact, it's just the opposite of what you've said - it's because I can keep it HIDDEN in my pocket that I love the phone, instead of being on my hip or creating a "glad to see you" bulge 😉

I could care less about attracting attention with my phone. I also could care less about managing my contacts on my phone - I have a PC to do that, and MPT does a more than adequate job of transferring the info to my phone. However, if you're dissatisfied with MPT, I understand Handset manager does a better ...

By the way, in terms of screaming out for attention, what's up with the "Naked In Mink," "Phonebabe69?" 😛

Naked in Mink. Emperor without clothes. Apt descriptions of my day with a Razr V3. All flash no substance? Better?

No. 🙂 The emperor analogy I get. He strutted proudly in the streets, convinced he was wearing the finest clothes.

A person naked, in mink, would be enveloped in the epitome of luxury. So, by describing your day with the V3 as like being "naked in mink" it is to say that you realized you were surrounded in luxury and thoroughly enjoyed the sensuous pleasure.

Wow if you have had that phone a year you paid dearly for it. No wonder you are so defensive.

Its not the first time people paid too much to be thinner though. For someone who does not caare what "other people think" you sure are defending ourself with vigor!

A legitimate rason to own a Hummer? Lets see.
"Look at me"? That the only one I can think of. They are too wide for off roading and you can take out a block of parked cars with the lack of right side visibility. Sorry I have to laugh when people pay for flash.

I live in an area where distracted driving, rudeness, and selfcenteredness rule the day. As I drive on weekends with my 5 year old, I am frequently met by challenges to his safety because of the thoughlessness of others. The H2/H3 actually offer a level of safety to its occupants that I considered, but elected to not buy - at least not yet. Perhaps you're a parent, perhaps not, and therefore you may not be able to relate to this, but I am very fortunate that I can pay extra for things that protect my son, making them worth every penny.

As for offroading, ummmm, I believe the H1 is significantly wider (and therefore impractical for civilian street use) and gee, that seems to do OK. 🙂

When I come across someone who thinks the MPX220 or SE520a are a better phone than the RAZR I just shake my head. They don't want a phone, they want a gadget.

As bbbsport pointed out, it's the size of the phone that makes the RAZR special. That and the fact that "as a phone", it's one of the best on the market.

You probably shake your head at someone driving an Acura NSX because it only seats 2 and has minimal storage, thinking they should have bought a BMW 735 with all the bells and whistles...

Not at all. I'm not impressed by those who feel the need to buy prestige to feel good about themselves. I'll take a smart man who does not wear his good fortune on his sleeve. A guy who chooses the understated Avalon over the same car, Lexus

I do prefer Gadgets that actually work well at what they do. I would think a decent contact manager in a phone is hardly a gadget. Especially in a phone that cost $500 a year ago and that has a screen large enough to read a book on. Really.

Motorola sucked in alot of "me too" people with a glorified "thin" entry level featured phone.

A decent contact manager in a phone is clearly a gadget as I have yet to see anyone dial and talk to an address. No thinking person chooses a phone because because it has a great camera or some other superfluous feature. You choose a phone because it works well "as a phone" and the form factor fits your application, an argument that you seem to dismiss out of hand.

Since you conviently sidestep this argument, one can only assume you're really interested in a gadget and in berating those that find value in a phone that exceeds the stated criteria.

As for the MPX220, all the reviews and word of mouth evidence report that this series of phones is buggy with bad RF (it can't make and/or hold a call). That doesn't fit the bill of a good...

She also conveniently sidesteps the correct value proposition of the RAZR - "thinness" isn't a gimmick, it's a legitimate "feature" that some value, and that every other phone on the market lacks.

There's a great line in "Broadcast News" where a statement is sarcastically posed to Holly Hunter about how it must be nice to go through life thinking you're always right, and that everyone else is always wrong. Her responce is that it's actually terrible, demonstrating that, in her emotional immaturity, she hasn't yet realized that narrowmindedness is a choice..... 🙄

Bad choice. The Avalon is a "compromise," half Camry, half ES330. So the Avalon is, like the Lexus you abhor, appealing to people that are willing to pay more for greater creature comforts.

The Camry is the "understated" version you were looking for. The Avalon is actually closer to the guy you describe, who wants to pretend he has "Lexus" class but just can't pull it off because of spotty credit.

The guy you SHOULD be attracted to would never consider any of those, because they aren't cars, they're dispassionate "appliances." Shoot for the guy that buys a "preowned" "driver's car," and keeps it spotless. He has passion in his soul, knows what he wants, understands the value of not overpaying, doesn't need the "latest and greatest," an...

The Avalon is built in the Camry chassis, as is the ES and the LS. So is my wife's Highlander.
