Motorola RAZR V3
Issues with RAZR V3
Also when trying to finish entering contact info, the phone kept asking for an email address even though I didn't want to add one.
Difficulties with setting up voice dialing. There seems to be a way to do it, but it's not very clear. When I set up several voice dials and tried to use it, the feature kept asking me if I wanted to send a text message and when I went into the contact page, it did not show a phone number for that person anywhere.
Text messages are not being sent or ...

Does anyone out there have a way to make it easier to HEAR PEOPLE TALK and not just by turning up the ringer volume? 😉
I thought I had a defective phone and got a replacement and I still have the same problem. Yes, I made sure that my ear piece volume was set up to max which is No. 7 and I'm still struggling. Cingular told me that the three groves have to be positioned just right on the center of the ear but there was nothing else that could be done. I even email Motorola Tech support who said that there was no magical setting or customization that coul...

I read your post and then went into Howardforums as you suggested. I have to tell you that after reading what is required to change the gain_table.bin file, I am very reluctant to try this for fear I could really damage something on my new RAZR. This looks very confusing and complicated and very prone to error. Do you have any easy user friendly ways for me to make this happen? Would a Motorola Repair Center be able to perform this? Where should I go from here. I really want to fix this earpiece volume issue, but want to fix it easily and quickly. Thanks in advance for your help.
IMO, one of the strengths of the RAZR is its length when open - I like having a slim phone, but hate having the mic somewhere up near my cheekbone. The RAZR can be move up further, to your ear, and still have the mic in a good place to talk and be heard.
And, of course, a Bluetooth headset will work well for you when you're on the go, where it may be less practical to keep the phone in a constant position.
Download p2kman and motorola-tool to your PC, connect your RAZR to your PC via USB, run p2kman, click the "UPDATE LIST" button, highlight the gain_table.bin file, click "PHONE >>> PC" button, use motorola-tool on that file, click "PC>>>PHONE" in p2kman, and upload the file back to your phone.
This is the easiest mod to your phone and you can branch out from there...

Good Luck!
and download it (there's a link on the referenced page as well).
I have forgotten where I got motorola-tool.exe so that's another search on Howardforums or use XVI32 to edit the file in hexadecimal as described in the previously provided link (just search the page for "gain" and you'll find the appropriate paragraphs).
Bottom line, you're just using p2kman to transfer files to/from the phone and motorola-tool or XVI32 to flip a couple of bits.
