Razr as modem w/ cell one/dobson
I'm wondering if there is a way to use my phone as a modem. I have earthlink and would like to dial up the earthlink phone number to use my earthlink account. So I only need the phone to dial a regular phone number, just like any other phone call, it's only the computer doing the phone call. I just want to make this clear, it seems that cell one doesn't understand what I mean when I explain this. I have been told that there is an extra charge just to use the phone as a modem by cell one. So i'm not sure if they understand I ALREADY pay for internet service (earthlink) and dialing through my computer shouldn't be any extra charges. I have unlimited minutes with cell one, so that shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone know if I can do this withou...

I also have a RAZR from Cell One (which sucks by the way). They clearly understand that you already pay for internet access, it's just a way to stick you with paying for more.

If you want to access your dial-up service to connect your PC to the internet, then you have to use the modem that came with your PC; you can't use your RAZR as a modem.
I have never heard of anyone using their cell phone to connect to the dial-up phone number of an ISP, so I'm not sure how you'd go about doing that. I'm not sure that's even possible.
With that said, I use my Motorola Ming A1200 as a modem for my laptop on occasion. Not sure what kind of prices your cell phone provider quoted you, but I pay $20 a month for unlimited usage.

any phone that has bluetooth technolgy has a built in modem. its not very fast though
