Motorola V635
Anyone using this phone with CIngular?
Has anyone else done this?
If so, how easy is it to set up and have you been happy with the performance of the V635/Cingular combination?
Thanks.
I have an Orange branded V635 that should be here today, that I bought from the UK. One of my coworkers has the V635 on Cingular, too and it works great. Of course his was unlocked and unbranded.
Setting up your media net is very easy. Customer service or myself can help you with that. I can't wait to get mine!!!

How much can you get the phone for in the UK?
The cheapest I could find was $350 at tigerdirect.com
Also, does buying the phone overseas involve any additional problems or work when trying to set it up with a US carrier?
Thanks again.
I got mine for $260 and $30 shipping. Check ebay again, you can find one unlocked, in the states for $320. About once a week someone advertises a blocked or barred V635. All this is, is a lost or stolen phone with the 900/1800 mhz frequency disabled. Bring it to the states and she will work perfectly. If you never travel, then you just got a $400 phone for $100 or less.
Since it is a quad-band phone, you will have no difficulty setting up the phone. Put your SIM card in and off you go. Like I said if you need the media net settings, let me know.
I am on the other hand am going to have to unlock mine. Once I do I pop in my Cingular Sim. I then have to clear all the Orange internet settings, and put in all of Cingular's settings...

Tigerdirect sells the V635 already unlocked an unbranded. There is no need to flash the phone as it only has Motorola's software and not some carrier. The reason I would flas my phone is to take all the Orange start up and menu functions away.
The phone comes with a one year warranty from Moto. Don't let them fool you with that extended warrany **** like Best Buy does. Say 6 months down the road it breaks, you can send it to Motorola and they will fix it here in the US. They have the parts. Plus by then the Cingular or someone will have picked it up.
I'm telling you, try your luck at ebay. $379 from Tigerdirect with shipping is a rip off!

Anybody know what cable I need to get to USB to take it further? What about softwear for the phonebook?
I just signed an new 1 year agreement with a Independent local dealer and got 4 unlocked phones for $600.00 plus tax. I will also be getting $250 in rebates.
There is a place in Manhattan offer the phones no rebate for $99 each with a one year agreeement to Cingularor T-mobile.
Without a new agreement you will pay at least $350.00
