I got one over the web while Nokia carried them for a few days. At first glance, the phone is great. On further examination, it has a few problems. The keys are very small. The Symbian 60 OS has not been updated to speed up the launching process. The phone comes with a bunch of s/w add-ons that are really advertisements. You have to delete the Voice activation s/w to get to the one embedded in the phone. In addition, the phone seems to lock up out of nowhere, forcing you to power down and reboot. I have had to do this several times per day. Quite annoying. Finally, the phone is designed to pair up with BT devices, such as my Jabra 250, but with my 6310i, I was able to tap the earpiece and that would activate the voice command for voice diali...

Could you elaborate when you say "e-mail does work more like a Blackberry, but not quite".

I have had mine for about a month. I have only had the lock up problem maybe twice in that time period. I agree with the 'advertisements' claim...as the voice command software was not worth the subscription fee, but I am thinking about renewing the wayfinder gps software...maybe only because I have the gps unit and it works great. I can agree with the 'slowness' of the software..but I am useto a moto, so it dosen't really bother me. Also if you hold down the menu key, you can get rid of the aps that are working in the background...I've found just having the 'phone' run will improve the preformace of the phone. The only way you can do voice dial is by buying the voice signal software...dosen't really bother me as I do not really use my head...

Phone is unlocked, as it was purchased from Nokia. I simply inserted my SIM card and everything worked. Even with a Cingular rep on the line.

E-mail: I use a POP account at the University of Minnesota. Hardly ever use the web feature of the phone. E-mail system on this phone does auto download the e-mails, but only the headers. I have to hit fetch to get the content. As I don't have and have not had a blackberry, perhaps I was a bit hasty, but I don't think that is how the blackberry works. I thought it downloads the entire message. Moreover, it is possible that I don't have the system mastered yet.

Lock ups have been reduced to one in two days, since deleting the voice app that I mentioned earlier.

Keys are still small and easy to ...

E-mail--- only downloads the headers? That's surprising-- do you mind exploring that further to see if that's all it does? That's not true push e-mail-- please update again as you find out more.

Have had the phone nearly 3 weeks. E-mail, when it works, works ok. Not really superfast. However, phone locks up constantly. I am now completely frustrated and glad I bought it from Nokia...where I have a 30 day return policy. I am going to return it and go back to the 6310i or go with a Razr v3, or possibly the 8801, although that looks like it will be alot of money.

Also, the OS for the 6682 is slower than molasses through a straw in january. I have reset factory settings 3 times and nothing seems to help. I am giving up.

Oh well.

Looks like Nokia was probably encountering a lot of problems like what you describe-- I assume that's why the phone was pulled from sale shortly after it debuted. Too bad--- I was looking forward to buying it. Sounds like you gave it a more than fair shot-- and the phone failed. It seems to me that Nokia has had trouble executing lately-- their phones are ridiculously late (6102, 6682) and even then, have serious unresolved problems. And I've owned nothing but Nokia phones for at least the last 7 or 8 years.

I've had the phone over a month now and have only had the phone lockup issue, or other bug problems less than a handfull of times. My nokia rep stoped by today and said that the phone is very close to being approved by cingular (as they were saying when I got the phone to begin with), as you may or may not know the carrier has to approve a phone before the phone is sold through them...which would make cingular guilty of the delay and not nokia. I know that there is at least one new software flash for my phone which I will hopefully get soon...

Got my 6682 a month and a half ago. It's pretty cool I haven't had any problems with it locking up. The phone doesn't close programs when you just hit end and go back to the standby screen, that's one of the great things about symbian. You can go right back to what you were doing if you get interrupted. I'd bet dimes to nickels that every time your phones lock up or run slow you have 4 or 5 programs open. I love the camera, it gets excellent reception, and I like the new features like pairing with 5 bt devices at once, and call reject text messaging.

I do have one complaint though, I bought a 512mb rs-mmc and it was too big for the phone. It wouldn't read it. I put it in a couple of other nokia devices and it worked fine.

I heard the r...

is the 512mb rs-mmc a dual voltage mmc card? it should read 1.8/3.0v somewhere on the card itself..

where did you get the card from?

I looked at the manufacturer's website (Sandisk) and it didn't say if it was dual voltage or not or how many ohms either.

I remember my nokia rep telling me that nokia was the only one making the dual voltage cards...what you have may be a standard rMMC...I think Rich posted something a while ago in refrence to this titled 'buyer beware.'
