Old SIM to New 6682
So Cingular told me when I ordered my 6682 phone that to activate it all I had to do was take the SIM out of my Nokia 6230 and pop it into the new 6682. They said I would still have EDGE (set to work correctly) and that all my contacts would transfer over. Is this true? I am thinking that the differences in the OS's would make this impossible. Can any of you guru's verify that what they told me is correct? Thanks.

That is 100% correct. Your sim card holds all of your account info plus you can store contacts on it to transfer to the phone.

Not correct. The contacts would not come over from my 6280 SIM card. That card is a 32K version, and the new one with the 6682 is 64K. My phone did work with the old SIM, just no contacts. Now I am trying to get the phone activated with the new SIM and have been given 5 hours of run around by Cingular. Sheeesh.

Doesn't matter if it's 32 or 64k..mine is 32k and it works fine..Cingular DID send me a new sim card, but I put it in my desk drawer. No need for it, my old one works fine and yours should also.

Yeah Cingular likes to send new sim cards. They can hit you with a switching fee. 😛

Sorry, Phoenixms, there is no fee for customers moving from the ATT side to the Cingular side.

Really? I ended up paying $18 to leave AT and T to go to Cingular.
