i am going to get this phone but first i want some feed back from people who really have and use this, here are some questions i have. what is the real battery life- stand by and talk. what color is the key-pad back light. how does the speaker sound- in " speaker phone" and regular talking. and how sturdy is the sliding back cover for camera. those are some questions that i had and honest feedback would be great thanks.
...
one more quick question is there a way to lock the keys so you dont bump them in your pocket. thanks again.

Cingular stores should have it in now or very soon.
Go to a store and get some hands on.
key lock- left soft key, star.
battery- always varies with uses habits and usage. I get almost two days(on 24-7) with bluetooth always on. I only turn it off to switch batteries. I am a moderate user, 1500 minutes a month.
...
I would concure, 2 - 3 days battery with bluetooth always on. However, if you are not using bluetooth, does it matter on or off in regards to battery drain ? I had a two hour converstaon which used about 50% battery.
...
No bluetooth on does not affect the battery.
...
what color is the key-pad back light.
white
how does the speaker sound- in " speaker phone" and regular talking.
regular speaker is very good, "speaker phone" is not bad, I've heard worse.
and how sturdy is the sliding back cover for camera.
It seems a little flexible, but it would take strong pressure to break it, though. It does come open pretty easy though, I've opened it taking it out of my pocket.

I seriously hope you are just joking icy.. does it pull the power for the bluetooth from the Sun? or did Nokia design a magical bluetooth radio that uses no power?
Having bluetooth on does indeed shorten mean time between charges...
...
I think icy meant, which I tend to agree, just having bluetooth on but not using it, does not use battery.
...
I disagree...Unless you have it on undiscoverable...and even then I still disagree.
...
You may disagree all you want. I don't know how much experience you have with bluetooth, but I have had the Nokia 6620 for a year now. The Moto V551 for 9 months. I also had the SE t637 and N-Gage prior to getting the 6620. Not to mention I have had the RAZR and SE s710a for awhile now. If bluetooth isn't being used it goes into something similiar to a hibernation mode. If your phone will last lets say 150 hours in the standby mode with BT turned off, it will last something like 149.5 hours with it turned on. The battery usage it uses when it is turned on but not used is very minute. Kinda like your destop pc monitor. It will go into a standby mode. Using virtually no electricity, but still technically being on. And when you touch your mouse...

I still disagree...I've used all of those phones that you've mentioned and when I had the bt on it would drain faster than when it was off...but whatever. Not in the mood to discect a moot point with someone via keys on a keyboard. Not that bored today
...
Yes whatever..maybe you dont have time to DISSECT a moot point, and I don't have time to correct anyones spelling..please don't respond to anymore of my posts. It bores me

wow, high and mighty aren't we? sory i cnt speel puaker

How much power BT uses in standby is unknown to me, but my 6230 used to use power much quicker with BT on but not used.
I just paired my v600 and my 6682. I sent a 25k pic from the 6682 to the v600. I powered the v600 off and turned it back on. I waited for the B to stop flashing in the display as I have BT turned on. When the B was no longer present, I went to the 6682 and sent another pic. The v600 responded by asking to acept or reject.
When devices are paired on a Moto, you should not have to turn on discovery to send that phone data.
...
If you haven't sent anything in a while you would have to make it discoverable. I am not sure how long it has to be "idle"..it could be a few hours or maybe a day, but my experience is you have to make it discoverable.

And in regard to the issue of BT using alot of battery power or not, I will say this and nothing else about it. My V551, with BT turned on, lasted 13 days in standby mode. That meant I charged the phone, and didn't use it for anything and it was 13 days before the battery died. So that is good enough for me.
