problem: copy to contact? over and over and over and over

wtf?! how many times does it have to ask you this?!

every time i turn on the phone and access my contacts.

this HAS to be a bug - how the f-ck did they miss that?!

also bluetooth issues - dropped connections to my laptop, and random power off's of the phone while bluetooth connected.

this is my seconds phone, thinking I need to return and wait a couple months :-(

It looks like you have a defective phone... they have been discussing this issue in the thread:

I am having both problems as well but am reluctant to return my phone as I am concerned about being without a phone for 2 weeks. Did your Cingular rep agree to send you a new phone immediately and if so how did you handle the billing issue?

The replacement isn't going to solve the problem. These phones are so new that you will get another one, with the same FW, and it will have these same problems. The only solution is a FW update, which I am pretty sure (hopefully) will come soon. I don't have a problem with the BT, I don't tether, but just pair to other devices. The 2 issues I have are the call logs and copying new contacts. Oh, and I can't have my clock set to auto update, or else it will show the wrong time by one hour.

Have you guys tried removing the battery? I did this yesterday and it hasn't asked me to copy SIM contacts anymore.

Call logs still clear.

I removed the battery for a substantial amount of time last night. Then put the battery back in and made a call to 611. It's still in there (yay). The first time I went into the contacts it asked me the copy scenario, but I just tried it and it didn't. We shall see. Will try later again today.

Powered the phone off just now and back on. Went into contacts and it did NOT ask me if I wanted to copy. Also, my call log did NOT clear as it had previously. Let's all keep our fingers crossed lol

Icyhot,

Some users report that their phones work properly while others experience the same problems. I agree that it appears to be a software problem but following the postings on this board leads me to conclude that there is a version of software that works. No?

If this is true, then how do we get a replacement that uses the clean software?

My suggestion is take the battery out for about 30 minutes. Let everyone do this, and see what happens. That's how long I left mine out last night and it seems not to lose the log or ask me the copy info anymore.

I shut down my phone and removed the battery for 60 minutes. I then received, sent, and missed calls. After power off and back on, all my call logs were still gone.

I have been having great difficultly getting the voice tag feature from the contact list to work successfully, has anyone else had this problem? and do you know of a solution? shorter names? longer names?

Nokia suppot recommended removing the battery and putting it back in. Now, it doesn't ask me to copy SIM contacts anymore.

I just did it, so we'll see if it happens again later...
