Flaky DKU-2 cable connection on 6682
CLSep 28, 2005, 10:01 AM
When I connect the 6682 to the DKU-2 cable that came with the phone, the cable locks in, but a slight wiggle of the cable (e.g., when setting the phone down on my desk) causes the electrical connection to fail. For example, when I plug in the cable, PC Suite says that the phone is connected, but when I set the phone down, PC Suite says the phone is disconnected. I can wiggle the cable every so slightly and the connection goes on and off.
Let me know please if you have had this problem. I want to know if it was a phone or cable problem. If this is a known cable problem, I'll ask Cingular to replace the cable instead of having to hassle with replacing the phone.
TIA.

We love Nokia, but we hate the pop port.
Could be phone or cable, it's hard to tell.
If you got it from Cing store or Cing.com, go to a store and swap the cable first. If prob continues, most likely the phone.
If you got from third party, you may have to buy cable locally, then return defective for $$.

Finally got to the store. It was the cable. They swapped it for me.
Tip: Take your laptop with you and verify the new cable they give you!

Does anyone have trouble getting the cable installed on the computer?? I would plug the cable in and plug the phone in and it will recognize the cable and ask me to install the drivers. When I let the computer search for the best driver, it takes forever to search and never finds it. I know that if you install the 6.6 pc suite, the drivers should have already been installed. Need help!!!

matt32,
What OS are you running? I'm running XP & didn't have any issue. I believe there are different orders of installation depending on the OS. Also if that fails you may want to uninstall & reinstall the PC software & see if that helps.

I'm running xp also home edition. I've already uninstalled and re-installed the program. Didn't work. Still giving me the same problem. I know it's definitely my desktop, because I am able to get it working on my laptop.
