For some reason, my 6682's security and pin code came pre-set it seems to another number besides the default # stated in the owners manual. I tried changing the security code on the phone and it asked for the lock code so I entered 1,2,3,4,5 like the manual says, then it asked for the new code so I put in a 5 digit number and it asked to enter it in again so I did and it says Code Error! I tried this several times but it still wouldn't accept any code I tried putting in. I can't reset the phone settings because I can't change the security code on the stupid phone lol. As for the 4 digit pin code, it wouldn't let me change it until it finally asked for the PUK code which I called cingy tech support for and put that in then I could change the ...

Call Nokia tech support. And if that gets you nowhere, exchange the phone for another.

That's a lot of s&h for nothing.

You can do a hard reset. With the phone turned off hold down the (*) + (green) + (3)

Then hit the power key. It should reset the phone to the factory defaults. I'd back up anything you don't want to loose first.

If you've got big fingers you might need someone else to hit the power key. I can do this myself with two hands. Place the phone on the counter top. Use your fingers like this:

L Index->(*)
L Middle->(green)

R Thumb->(3)
R Index->(Power)

That's a new way to do a hard reset that I never knew. I only knew to do *#7370#, and then it asks you for the security code (which he doesn't have, so that isn't a viable option for him).

Hey, I actually tried the hard reset method by pressing down all 3 buttons at once..it reset the phone back to the way it was when I got it but it still won't let me change the 5 digit security code. I tried doing the *#7370# thing, but it asks for the security code which I don't know for my phone...Anyone know how to get the phone to ask for the PUK security code(not the PUK for the pin #)? I was considering returning it to letstalk for another, but they are out of stock right now and I can't be without my phone for a few days. Haha, it's like one of those WTF kinda things, how in the heck did the default security code get changed when the phone is brand new??

In the situation you're in, I would definitely call Nokia tech support. Maybe they know a trick. I would not stop until I got an answer.

Amen...............to STOP THERE!!!!!!

If you enter the wrong security code, to many times, it can LOCK your phone (no PUK code to unlock it), and you'd have to send it into Nokia for further assistance, not exactly sure what they would do in that case, reflash the phone, etc?????????

There IS a difference between the SIM Pin request and the actual Phone security code, the later is less forgiving!!!!!!

Dude, to me it sounds like you didn't get a new phone! But rather a phone someone else had had and had set the Security Code.
