Shortcuts

Hey what are the 7 shortcuts you guys have programmed on your phone (2 soft keys, plus the 5 on the directional keypad). Just trying to get a feel for what my fellow 6682-aholics think are the 7 most programs/apps they need to get to the quickest.

believe it or not... I still have camera as my left soft key. WEAK, considering you can get there buy sliding the cover down. Let you know when I get there. I just checked out my directionals really for the first time ever. Only one that really "thrilled" me was right for IM. One I would want on there would be Maxinote for text mess. AND, I'll admit, I need to figure out HOW to program them on the directional.

Give me some insight on what Maxinote is. Never heard of it. Can I read about it somewhere? Sending you something from my ISP address as we speak.

Maxinote is for text messaging. I REALLY like it. Free trial download. Way better the predictive text.

I will check that out. I tell you, I love T9 though. Almost as fast on that as I was on my keyboard phone (6800).

My 7 shortcuts are:
Left soft key - messaging
Right soft key - Bluetooth

Left dir. - Webviewer (Java based browser)
Up dir. - Profimail
Right dir. - Themes
Down dir. - Opera
Center press - Contacts

yeah, profimail will make my 7 list. Thanks for turning me on to that. Themes will make it too. I like to change a lot, nudity or no ;) Bluetooth... maybe. I had active standby on (bluetooth was on there) but now that I have themes on my phone, I don't like the way AS blocks some of the theme view. Opera probably will make it too. Yes, I already have center as contacts. I'll let you know what the final results are... But they will probably change over time too *lol* I like variety.

BTW, good question, Kem. You make me think (I need all the help I can get) and prod me to explore.

OK, currently (sure to change)

LSK - Recorder
RSK - Profiles
Right - Opera
Left - Mxinote
Down - Messaging
Up - Profimail

Another thing I do is on menus, center the most used and place around center 4 next most as to get to them with one direction key push.

And on voice recorder...
The other day to get around the 1 min. limit (stupid). We had a meeting with one of our VPs and he was talking about some "big rocks" for this year. I wanted to record it. I used video recorder with the slide cover closed. Not TOO bad. 39MB to record 45 mins. Sure it's bigger than a record file but if you want to record something long, it's an option.

One more thing... Fexplorer;
Does anyone else get prompted twice (EVERYtime) "are you sur...

I do the same thing with my menus/folders. Guess it shows how lazy we are LOL.

Voice recorder - Psiloc has a program called extended recorder. $12.50 on handango, and has a trial version.

Yes FExplorer does that to me also. GoSymbian doesn't want their program closed lol.

One thing to help with the call logs/copy sim card. Set up the voice dialing as much as possible to keep from having to go to those 2 application as little as possible.

Just a suggestion, but if you hold the zero key down for a second, it automatically brings up the web, and that would give you an extra shortcut key.

Correct Boy Wonder!!!

But, when I do the 0 thing, it takes me to a predetermined homepage, but if I choose the Web option, it starts with a list of bookmarks.

So, If I want to go my personal site I press and hold the 0, when I want a bookmarked site, left softkey.

I use the web alot. Just saves a click or two.

I went with the "Active Standby" instead! I gives you 5 icons across the top (which are selectable by you) using the directional keypad to navigate them. My icons are assigned as
  • Contacts - so the default option still brings up my address book

  • Messaging

  • Calendar

  • Call Logs

  • Profiles

LSK: Messaging (redundant, I know)
RSK: Notes

The other advantage of usine the "Active Standby" is it lists your calendar information down the rest of the screen! Which are also selectable!

I like the active standyby screen as well, it will show both todo items and calendar entries.

I put the 5 icons as log, messaging, calendar, opera, todo, and my soft buttons as settings and contacts.

Bluetooth toggle as a voice item saved me a button.

Ah, you need a better screensaver, one who's clock is readable without the backlight.

dthree:

I just downloaded s-saver and the screen remains dark when the clock is on. I can't see the clock if I am in the dark.

Did I do something wrong?

No, you didn't. The screen does remain dark, but it's a lot easier to see than the standard screensaver, but it does require *a little* available light.
