To whom it may concern,

It seems many of the issues i had been emailing you about (loss of
call
logs & randomly copying contacts from sim) are cause by firmware of
the
Cingular version of the 6682 & the Cingular 64K sim.

Is this true? If so are you actively working on it? & if/when a fix is
available will you (Nokia) or will Cingular alert us what the fix is?
From my understanding the Cingular 6682's work with out issue w/ 32K
sims, & that it may be a matter of upgrading th...

Seems to be a canned response. Basically the same answer I received from Nokia to the email I sent them asking about their knowledge of the issues and any plans to update firmware. They admitted to NOTHING *grrrrr*

..just called a regional (nothing close by) nokia service center & spoke to a tech there, he felt that is was a software issue & that it should be sent back to the Nokia service center.

..early adoption rocks! actually i am bummed at the way the situation is being handled. I like the phone & in general i can live w/ the nuisances (call logs/ sim copy) but, now i just want to find out how they handle it. (I know that the 32k sim will fix it, but its now a game & i want to see how it all plays out w/ the firmware)

...called Nokia support again, this time spoke to a much more knoledgable (or at least he told me things i wanted to hear/ that seemed to make sense). He said that though he had not specifically heard of this issue, that Nokia is working on a firmware upgrade & it should be released in a few weeks & that i should call back then. ... for better or worse, right now i'm going to take him for his word & hold on to my phone, i was going to send it to Nokia for 'repair', but if the fix isn't ready yet, i'd rather not have it sit in FL till its ready.

.. i mentioned the 32k vs 64k sim & he felt that it may only be temporary fix & that for now it may seem fixed, not sure if i agree w/ that, especially since for people w/ the 32k they seem to be...

Thanks for the update, dog

As for me, I got my new sim from Cingular today. As as I feared in the back of my mind, not too far back actually, they sent me a 64k. I specifically asked for and they said they would send me, a 32k sim.

Off to get ON the phone w/Cing *sigh*
Not going to waste much time with them though. If I have to, I'll find one on ebay.

OK, I think they "get it" now.
She's like, "you realize the 64k" is a better sim. "Yes". But I again explained WHY I want a 32k. Also, ask since they messed up the original for them to overnight it. She said they would. Being so late, 5pm here on the left coast, probably wont get it till Sat.

UGH, I was actually still on hold finalizing the order. She needs to call me back with conf. # Apparently they are having difficulties finding a 32k. I AM persistent though! I am the customer and I am ALWAYS right! 😁

I just got mine today!
Question...
If the powers that be update the 6682 firmware in the not too distant future how does that update reach us consumers?
Does that mean shipping our phones away to have it flashed or something, or will we be able to do it? 😕

shipping away. I did find a local dealer that is Nokia authorized for service that would be able to perform it.

Sidout9257, what tech or customer service person did you talk to (name or extension). I got the standard "we have none, and you get none" response when I asked for one.

My first call was to 800-Cingular. He assured me 32k.. but I got the 64k. Tonight, I called 611. I feel more assured I will receive the 32k sim. And, no charge, overnight shipping.
I don't remenber her name. She put me on hold several times. I imagine to speak with a sup. or tech person. But I feel comfortable that I got my point across and will receive what I asked for. She checked local stores, for mme to pick up, but none had the 32k. Just got to be persistent and somewhat demanding.
